Sekhukhune United’s new signee, Lesiba Nku, has opened up about making his first appearance for Babina Noko against TS Galaxy over the weekend.
The Betway Premiership clash between Sekhukhune and the Rockets took place at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, 1 February. Sekhukhune managed to grind out a vital 1-0 victory, courtesy of a clinical strike from veteran forward Bradley Grobler.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder was officially unveiled by the Limpopo-based club on Friday, 30 January.
His arrival follows a mid-season departure from Stellenbosch FC, where he and the club parted ways via mutual agreement. Nku was announced alongside Thato Khiba, who joins Sekhukhune from the Cape Winelands-based outfit, Stellies.
Nku didn’t have to wait long for his first taste of action. He was introduced in the 79th minute, replacing former Bafana Bafana international Lebogang Phiri to help see out the game and provide fresh energy on the transition.
With these three points secured against the Rockets, Sekhukhune United are now placed fifth on the Betway Premiership table with 29 points after 17 matches.

WHAT LESIBA NKU SAID ABOUT HIS FIRST GAME IN SEKHUKHUNE UNITED COLOURS
Speaking to the club’s media department after the game, a beaming Nku expressed his relief and excitement at being back on the pitch.
“Yoh! What a game! But I’m happy to be here, to get some minutes, and to stay fit,” said Nku.
“I’m looking forward to playing more games. Honestly, I’m delighted to be here and play football.”
With his debut now behind him, Nku will be vying for a spot in the starting eleven when Sekhukhune lock horns with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side Highbury FC in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 on Saturday, 7 February. The kick off is set for 15:00.
