Zimbabwe PSL side Highlanders FC is set to offer former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates winger Kuda Mahachi a second chance to redeem himself, it has emerged.
The 32-year-old has been training with the Bulawayo side, a team that recently shocked Zimbabwean and South African football circles by parting ways with coach Thabo Senong two weeks after his unveiling.
Last season, Mahachi was on the books of Manica Diamonds in Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, but his contract was not renewed upon expiry on 31 December 2025.
Lack of fitness has been a major concern, as he was restricted to less than 15 appearances out of 34 league matches. In addition, he did not manage to score during his stint at the club.
HIGHLANDERS TO OFFER KUDA MAHACHI A SHORT TERM CONTRACT
However, FARPost has it on good authority that Highlanders FC has agreed to take him on board, hoping he will turn a corner in his career. Mahachi rose to stardom between 2012 and 2014, during which he played for Chicken Inn FC and Highlanders.
He was signed by Sundowns in July 2014 before starring at Golden Arrows, Pirates, and SuperSport United [now Siwelele FC].
“We’re taking him. He’ll be key because he has convinced the technical team that he still has something to offer. But it’s obviously a one-year contract,” a source told FARPost.

Mahachi has never been the same since his tumultuous exit from the Betway Premiership back in July 2022. In 2023, he surfaced at Ghanaian outfit Medeama SC.
But lack of fitness was a major hindrance, and his contract was not renewed upon its conclusion as he struggled for game time.
Nevertheless, Mahachi made a name for himself in the Betway Premiership, where he made a total of 153 appearances, scoring 20 goals and delivering 19 assists in the process.
During his splendid time in South Africa, Mahachi also earned 41 national team caps with four goals under his belt. He was part of the Zimbabwe squad for the 2014 African Nations Championship.
Mahachi was also a member of The Warriors squad for the 2019 AFCON in Egypt. He still believes he can add value to the Warriors, who have really struggled across all continental championships.
