Former Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah is holding out for a transfer that will keep him in the Betway Premiership. Although Libyan club Al Shomooa has shown confirmed interest, the Nigerian international is eager to remain in South Africa.
Following his recent exit from the Buccaneers after 81 appearances, the 28-year-old is weighing his options. His representative, Mike Makaab of Prosport International, has clarified why the talented defender is keen to continue in the Betway Premiership.
After a gruelling period sidelined by injuries, the centre-back is prioritising a familiar environment to regain his elite form. According to Makaab, the next 12 to 24 months are pivotal for Ndahโs career longevity.
MIKE MAKAAB: โHE NEEDS STABILITYโ
โThe sporting director [of Al Shomooa] has been in contact with me. Weโve had discussions. But Olisaโs priority is to stay in South Africa,โ Makaab told FARPost. โHe needs stability in his life over the next 12 to 24 months. Heโs recovered now from the injuries. Heโs ready to compete.

โHeโs mentally strong… but for him, itโs important to be in an environment that is stable. And Iโm not saying Libya is unstable. But itโs a new environment. If he had been playing regularly, we probably wouldโve considered it.
โHonestly, for us, itโs about finding him a home in South Africa, which Iโm hoping will happen over the next few weeks. And then letโs see his progress, because all weโve got to hope is that Olisa stays injury-free and gets back to what we all know heโs capable of doing.โ
Having joined Pirates from Akwa United in 2021, Ndah has already adapted to the South African game, making it the path of least resistance for a return to peak performance.
With Makaab confirming that a number of options are on the table, the race for Ndahโs signature within South Africa is expected to heat up. Any club looking for a ball-playing centre-back with continental experience will likely be circling, provided they can offer the long-term stability the Super Eagles defender star craves.
