After finding incredible form between November and January, DDC defending champions Kaizer Chiefs have seemingly spiralled back into a disappointing rut following a stunning defeat to Orbit College FC.
On Sunday, Orbit College put on a masterclass at Olympia Park, walloping Amakhosi 4-1. A rampant second-half response—after trailing 1-0 at the break—helped the North West-based side comfortably secure their fourth victory in five games.
As for Chiefs, hopes of defending their title continue to fade as they failed to secure a victory for the third successive match. Despite the slump, Amakhosi remain in fifth place and still hold one game in hand.
Chiefs on 27 points, now trail fourth-placed Siwelele FC by six points, even though the Bloemfontein side also dropped points over the weekend. On Saturday, Siwelele played to a 1-1 stalemate against AmaZulu FC at the UJ Soweto Campus.
PIRATES HALTED BY RESILIENT GALAXY

The Isak Steyl Stadium hosted a fierce battle between TS Galaxy and Orlando Pirates on Sunday. The Rockets managed to hold the log leaders to a 1-1 stalemate in a tightly contested encounter.
It was a significant result for the hosts, who became only the fourth side to avoid defeat against the Buccaneers so far this campaign. Furthermore, the Mbombela team brought an end to Pirates’ six-game winning streak, forcing them into just their second draw of the season.
However, the single point saw Galaxy drop two positions down the table, falling from eighth to 10th.
SUNDOWNS CLOSE THE GAP
Mamelodi Sundowns will be grateful to Galaxy, as the weekend’s results saw the gap at the top of the table narrow.
On Saturday, the Tshwane giants secured a 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at Tuks Stadium. The win moves Sundowns to 39 points, reducing their deficit to Pirates from seven points to five.
