TS Galaxy eliminated Marumo Gallants from the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 with a 1-0 victory at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Sunday afternoon, while AmaTuks booked a spot in the Last 16 after beating Hungry Lions 5-3 on penalties.
Galaxy claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Bloemfontein-based side in extra time after the two sides could not find the back of the net in 90 minutes.
The Rockets stole the narrow victory after opening the scoring in the extra time with a strike from experienced striker Victor Letsoalo, which dumped Gallants out of the last cup competition in the SA top-flight for the 2025/26 season. Galaxy joined big guns such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16.
Elsewhere, AmaTuks defeated fellow Motsepe Foundation Championship side Hungry Lions FC 5-3 on penalties to advance to the next round.
The University of Pretoria played to a 1-1 draw against Hungry Lions in 120 minutes, and the tie was decided in the penalty shootout. Tuks will be aiming for a dream run in the Nedbank Cup and possibly challenge for the title after reaching the semi-final in 2024, where they lost on penalties to Sundowns.
LERUMO LIONS SUFFER DEFEAT AGAINST ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE TEAM

Meanwhile, KZN ABC Motsepe League side Mkhambathi FC marched on to the Last 16 with a win over Lerumo Lions FC in another match played on Sunday afternoon. Mkhambathi pulled off an upset, beating PSL team Lerumo Lions 2-1.
In the last match of the weekend, Richards Bay FC beat Siwelele FC 4-3 on penalties at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium to secure a place in the Nedbank Cup Last 16. The KZN-based side prevailed in the penalty shootout after playing to an entertaining 3-3 draw against Siwelele in extra time.
In addition, Golden Arrows defeated Orbit College FC 3-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday, just after midday in the Nedbank Cup Last 32. The match was replayed after it was abandoned on Saturday night due to inclement weather.
