The saying “it never rains, but it pours” remains the grim reality for Leruma United, as their winless streak stretched even further this past weekend. The side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tembisa Hollywood Thunder in their SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League clash.
The showdown between Leruma and Tembisa Hollywood Thunder took place at Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton on Saturday afternoon.
The loss marks a staggering 19-game winless run for Leruma. Out of those 19 outings, the club has managed to secure only three points from three draws, failing to find the back of the net or defensive stability necessary to turn their fortunes around.
Currently rooted to the bottom of the table in 18th-place with only three points, Leruma’s descent has been swift following their relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, where they finished in position 16 with 27 points after 30 games.
Despite the hope that a return to the third tier would allow them to rebuild, the club has struggled to adapt, finding themselves in a fight for survival once again.
