Former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Percy Tau has finally ended his goal drought for V League 1 club Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC after finding the target in the 1-1 home draw with Hong Linh Ha Tinh FC on Monday.
The Bafana Bafana attacker struck as early as four minutes into the match before Guinea-Bissau striker Balotelli dramatically equalised for the visitors deep into stoppage time. Having gone for 16 matches across all competitions without scoring and only managing just three assists, Tau finally broke his goal duck.
The 31-year-old joined Nam Dinh in August 2025 in a surprise move after leaving Qatar SC. In Vietnam, he teamed up with former Kaizer Chiefs utility man Njabulo Blom, who is currently nursing a long-term injury.
But despite regularly playing, Tau struggled to rediscover his scoring form, which previously saw him ply his trade in Belgium, the English Premier League and for Egyptian heavyweights Al Ahly. That cost him his Bafana Bafana spot, and he was excluded from the 2025 AFCON squad.
However, the Witbank-born player managed to register his name on the scoresheet on Monday with an early goal for Nam Dinh. While he was happy to score, Tau would be upset that Hong Linh Ha Tinh denied them victory right at the death.
Tau’s team are the V League 1 defending champions but have found it difficult this season as they are struggling for form. After 13 rounds of games, they are currently 12th on the 14-team V League 1 table with five points more than basement side SHB Da Nang.

The 29-year-old scored two goals to fire log leaders Beveren to a 2-0 win over SK Lommel. The result helped Beveren extend their lead to 12 points clear of second-placed KV Kortrijk who are home to Cassius Mailula.
Abrahams has now scored five goals in his last seven league games, a feat that could attract the attention of Broos who is yet to get a gunsliger in his Bafana setup. Overall, he has seven goals in 21 league matches this season as Beveren are firmly on course for top-flight league promotion.
