The South African Football Players Union [SAFPU] has announced that it recently intervened and resolved contractual disputes involving 13 PSL players, including George Maluleka, who were owed money by their respective clubs.
SAFPU recently held a special elective general assembly where they elected new leadership. Former Bafana Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo was elected to steer the ship.
Durban City defender Terrence Mashego is serving as the 1st vice president, while Banyana Banyana player Kholosa Biyana is the 2nd vice president.
SAFPU ISSUES AN UPDATE ON THE CASES INVOLVING PSL PLAYERS
In a statement issued on Monday evening, SAFPU updated on the progress of 13 players following proceedings at the National Dispute Resolution Chamber [NDRC] and negotiated settlement agreements.
The organisation says they secured favourable rulings at the NDRC for five players against Motsepe Foundation Championship side Kruger United FC for breach of contract and outstanding remuneration. The players are George Maluleka, Khotso Malope, Thabiso Mpame, Tshepo Mamabolo and Musawenkosi Mdluli.

In addition, the organisation says Tlotlo Leepile obtained a favourable ruling against Upington City FC for outstanding dues arising from contractual breach.
SAFPU also added that they successfully negotiated settlement agreements on behalf of seven players against newcomers Leicesterford City FC. This follows contractual breaches that left the players without salaries.
The players Samora Motloung, Tlotlo Leepile, Dumisani Ngwenya, Kenneth Nthatheni, Erasmus Makgathi, Mxolisi Kunene and Oscar Ntsoane are now free to join clubs of their choice.
UNION PRESIDENT TYSON HLATSHWAYO PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOMES OF THE CASES
“A contract is not a favour from the club, it is a worker’s shield, a promise of dignity, and a pillar of justice. When one player’s contract is respected, the whole game moves forward,” said SAFPU president Hlatshwayo.
“But when contracts are broken, we must stand firm, organised, and united,” he added, emphasising that the outcomes reflect the Union’s unwavering commitment to protecting the dignity of footballers.
