Kaizer Chiefs star Sibongiseni Mthethwa has spoken out on his working relationship with Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, as the midfield hardman adapts to the unique setup of the Chiefs technical bench.
Kaze and Ben Youssef were appointed as interim co-coaches of the Soweto giants on 10 October 2025. This came after the departure of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
The two coaches were tasked with steadying the ship for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.
The pair have worked quickly to implement their vision at the Glamour Boys, a shift that Mthethwa was beginning to embrace before his injury setback.
The 31-year-old is currently sidelined after sustaining a knee injury last month, an unfortunate blow that is expected to keep him out of action for several months.
Before Mthethwa’s injury blow, the former Stellenbosch FC player was a mainstay in Amakhosi’s midfield, making 18 appearances across all competitions this season.

‘IT HAS BEEN GOOD’: SIBONGISENI MTHETHWA
Speaking on the new technical setup, ‘Ox’, as he is popularly known within the football circles, spoke candidly about his evolving role and the support he has received from the interim co-coaches.
“Well, it has been good; I won’t lie. It’s been good playing under them. They have been supporting me since the first time they came to South Africa,” said Mthethwa.
“When they arrived, I didn’t get enough of a chance, but right now, I am playing well and getting enough playing time. Unfortunately, I got injured.
“But right now, I’m approaching a difficult time. I still have to prove myself again and perform well based on my previous performances.”
As Chiefs look to climb the Betway Premiership table and progress to the CAF Confederation Cup knockout phase, the experienced midfielder is now focused on his rehabilitation programme, eyeing a return to full fitness to help the club finish the season on a high note.
