Zimbabwean midfielder Juan Mutudza is set to make his debut for Betway Premiership side Polokwane City FC.
The 30-year-old, formerly with CAPS United, joined Polokwane City as a free agent in December 2025 after his proposed move to Black Leopards collapsed due to the club’s FIFA transfer ban on registering new players.
Mutudza parted ways with Leopards without kicking a ball but quickly impressed at Polokwane City, earning a two-year contract with the Limpopo-based outfit.
The former Dynamos midfielder had yet to feature for Rise and Shine due to outstanding paperwork. However, all the necessary documentation, including his work permit, has now been finalised, making him eligible to play in South Africa.
South Africa-based Zimbabwean agent Denzel Manyani of DM Sports Management, who facilitated Mutudza’s move, confirmed the development.
“Yes, Juan’s paperwork is now sorted out. He is eligible to play in the South African league,” Manyani told FARPost

MUTUDZA THE LATEST ZIMBABWEAN TO PLAY IN SOUTH AFRICA
The former FC Platinum midfielder could end a six-month spell without competitive football when Polokwane City face AmaZulu in a Nedbank Cup clash on Tuesday night.
Mutudza last played competitive football in June last year while still at CAPS United before leaving for South Africa, where he impressed during trials at Black Leopards but could not be registered due to the club’s transfer ban.
He becomes the latest Zimbabwean player to ply his trade in South Africa’s top flight, which already boasts the likes of Divine Lunga, Washington Arubi, Elvis Chipezeze, Edmore Chirambadare and Knox Mutizwa.
Recent arrivals in the league include Daniel Msendami, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, Junior Zindoga, Emmanuel Jalai and Mason Mushore.
Meanwhile, known for his ability to play at a high tempo, particularly in one-two situations and for controlling the rhythm in midfield, Mutudza could make an immediate impact at Polokwane City, provided he regains full fitness and form.
The former Herentals midfield star previously impressed at the 2024 COSAFA Cup, despite Zimbabwe’s disappointing campaign.
