TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has explained how he identified Puso Dithejane’s replacement from within his squad as he readied himself to lose the Chicago Fire FC new signing.
Dithejane made a surprise move to the Major League Soccer outfit in January, teaming up with former Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the United States. The winger left the Rockets at a time when he had established himself as a key member in Beganovic’s group.
He was being linked with Mamelodi Sundowns while his former club Kaizer Chiefs admitted they wanted him back at Naturena. But he opted to go overseas.
As the player was a subject of transfer talk during the first half of the current season, Beganovic started preparing for life after Dithejane.
WHO DID BEGANOVIC IDENTIFY AS DITHEJANE’S REPLACEMENT?
The Bosnian says he picked Junior Zindoga to step in for Dithejane when he realised that he might lose the ex-Chiefs development player. He then started preparing the Zimbabwe international, who arrived at the club in August 2025, to take up Dithejane’s role.
“Already, as a coach, in the first round of the season, I tried to prepare some other players on how we can replace Puso Dithejane because I had a feeling [he would leave TS Galaxy],” said Beganovic.
“He played well, scored some beautiful goals, he put some attention on himself and he also had some assists. It is crucial for wing players to score and assist. I knew somebody can come and take him
“I knew what we needed to do and I slowly prepared Junior Zindoga on how he can replace him [Dithejane] if he goes. Junior Zindoga then started playing for the Zimbabwe national team and he started playing for TS Galaxy very well.
“First game [of 2026] he won for us a penalty against Marumo Gallants and he had a great assist and he played very well. In his second game, he scored a beautiful goal against AmaZulu.
“I think he can improve a lot and he can be a good replacement for us for the rest of the season and it can work out longer with Junior Zindoga.”
