Why Justice Chabalala chose Casric Stars over Betway Prem clubs

Justice Chababala’s representative, Nimrod Mbhalati, has disclosed why the former Orlando Pirates defender chose to sign with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars over Betway Premiership clubs.

The veteran defender, Chababala, signed with Casric earlier this week following his surprising departure from Gomora United.

The 34-year-old had penned a season-long contract with an option to extend with Gomora; however, Chababala succumbed to a decision to reach a mutual agreement to be released by the Gauteng-based outfit.

Chababala signed for the Mpumalanga-based club alongside the ex-Richards Bay FC and Royal AM attacker, Mfundo Thikazi.

As previously reported by this publication, several top-flight suitors were keen on Chabalala’s services—including the likes of Magesi FC, Siwelele FC, and a rumoured reunion with Chippa United.

WHY JUSTICE CHABALALA OPTED FOR CASRIC STARS OVER BETWAY PREMIERSHIP OPTIONS

Mbhalati revealed that Casric’s “all-in” approach and the vision they have for his client won them the race over the Betway Premiership clubs that were interested in signing Chabalala.

“Yes, there were two clubs that were looking for his services from the Betway Premiership, but between those two, only one showed serious interest,” said Mbhalati in an exclusive interview with FARPost.

“However, we decided not to join the club, and honestly, believe it or not, I never thought it could make sense to sign with a lower division club until Casric showed us the vision of the club. Sometimes it’s easy to make a decision when you see how much you’re needed at a certain place. So, for us, we believe Casric was the best option.

“Justice is loved at Casric, which gives him peace of mind. All he needs to do is repay the club with his top performances and guide the young ones to have a championship mentality, which he has himself.

“It’s evident that Casric is an ambitious club that has been fighting for promotion for quite some time. I think they need someone like him to help them achieve that, and they deserve it. I think it’s about time now.”

WHY JUSTICE CHABALALA REQUESTED TO BE RELEASED BY GOMORA UNITED

While the reasons behind Chabalala’s sudden departure from Gomora remain under wraps, Mbhalati was quick to dismiss any talk of bad blood.

“It was a mutual agreement between him and the club’s chairman [Joe Seanego], which I obviously can’t disclose. But we thank Gomora for the opportunity they gave him,” he added.

“I personally spoke to the chairman; he’s a top human being who was more like a father to Justice. He helped him a lot and understood his desire to move away from the club, for which we will always be grateful.”

Casric currently find themselves in a heated battle for automatic promotion. They sit second in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings, boasting 30 points from 17 matches. They’re only three-point behind log leaders, Milford FC.

Meanwhile, Casric are on the road for their next league assignment—a Valentine’s Day date with Hungry Lions on Saturday, 14 February 2026. This showdown is expected to kick off at 15:30.
