Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane has disclosed his primary mandate following his appointment as head coach of Eswatini outfit Tabankulu Celtic FC.
As first reported by FARPost a few days ago, Mlwane crossed the border shortly after parting ways with Tzaneen United, a side competing in the SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League.
His tenure at the Limpopo-based amateur club was notably brief; he oversaw only two matches after joining the team in January 2026 before the opportunity in Eswatini surfaced.
Tabankulu Celtic are the newcomers in the Eswatini top flight, and have shown flashes of potential, as they are currently placed seventh on the log standings with 25 points after 16 games.
HUMPHREY MLWANE’S MANDATE AT TABANKULU CELTIC FC
Mlwane is clear about what the clubโs leadership expects from him come the end of the season, which is to finish in the top four and stay away from the relegation zone.

Beyond the club’s immediate goals, Mlwane views this international stint as a pivotal moment for his coaching career.
“At the moment, I have got the team in a good position on the log, and this is their first season in the league. So, the mandate is to avoid relegation and finish the season in the top four,” Mlwane told FARPost.
“I have to make sure that I leave my mark and make a name for myself, which will help me get better opportunities in the future.”
HUMPHREY MLWANE ON HOW ESWATINI MOVE CAME ABOUT
Mlwane went on to reveal that the Eswatini side had been tracking him long before his short-lived stay in Tzaneen.
“Actually, I was supposed to come here after I left the Bees. After they saw the separation between me and the Bees, they contacted me as they were interested in my services,” he added.
“So, they took the whole of December quite, and that’s when I joined Tzaneen United. They contacted me again to ask why I had taken another job when we were interested in your services. But we sorted it all out as I left Tzaneen United to join them.”
The clubโs next league assignment is an away fixture against Sisonkhe FC this Sunday, 15 February. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
