Black Leopards are at risk ofย relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the ABC Motsepe League after suffering a 2-0 defeat againstย Gomora United,ย while Kruger United gave their title ambitions a major boost with a victory over Upington City FC.
Leopards failed to collect maximum points after going down in a disappointing defeat against Gomora on Saturday afternoon at Malamulele Stadium. The Limpopo-based side are winless in their last eight league matches, having last tasted victory in November 2025 after beating The Bees 4-1.
So far in the 2025/26 season, Leopards have registered only two wins, six draws, and nine defeats in 17 matches played. They are occupying the 16th position on the league table with 12 points.
In the remaining 13 games before the end of the season, Leopards will need to improve their performance to move out of the danger zone and maintain their status in the second tier.
KRUGER UNITED PUSHING FOR PROMOTION TO THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP
Elsewhere, Kruger United boosted their chances of winning the league in the NFD to gain automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership next season.

United secured a crucial 2-1 win against Upington City on Saturday afternoon at KaNyamazane Stadium to move to second place on the log standings with 33 points after 18 games.
Meanwhile, relegation-threatened Baroka FC brushed aside The Bees with a narrow 1-0 victory at Mafori Stadium on Saturday. Bakgakga are positioned 14th on the league table with 17 points, and they are five points away from the bottom-placed Black Leopards.
