Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has shared his thoughts on what he believes was their downfall during the 2-0 loss against TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 match on Saturday.

Masandawana were eliminated from the competition after conceding two first-half goals at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Sundowns made 10 changes to the starting line-up from the squad that beat rivals Orlando Pirates in a Betway Premiershipย clash on Wednesday.

The loss now means Sundowns will have to focus on their League title defence and the CAF Champions League, where they advanced to the quarter-final stage.

WHAT WENT WRONG FOR MAMELODI SUNDOWNS AGAINST TS GALAXY?

Speaking after the match, conceded that their failure to convert chances and the mistakes which led to both goals were costly for them.

“The game is clear to be analysed and to be spoken about. When you don’t convert the chances you had, and you let yourself make mistakes in order to be down 2-0 in a match that is played in conditions that are difficult to cope with,” he said.

“But mostly the lack of concentration in those mistakes that put you in a situation that is also difficult to recover from. There is not much more to comment.

“We can complain about the goals we didn’t score. We totally controlled the match but here and there. What remains in my head is the way we suffered the goals and we let ourselves go down in a match like this is absolutely difficult to cope with,” he added.

Sundowns will shift their focus to League football when they travel to the Moses Mabhida Stadium to face AmaZulu FC on Tuesday, 24 February. They currently sit second on the log with 35 points, three below Pirates, who have played an extra match.
