Stellenbosch FC are set to miss two key players, Thabo Moloisane and Wonderboy Makhubu, for the highly-anticipated Betway Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday night at the FNB Stadium.

The Winelands-based side will travel to Gauteng to face Chiefs, looking to bounce back from disappointment in the Nedbank Cup. Stellies suffered a 1-0 defeat against Golden Arrows in the Last 16 of the cup competition at the King Zwelithini Stadium this past weekend.

Before crashing out of the Nedbank Cup, Stellenbosch were also eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup group stages after finishing at the bottom of Group C with five points in six matches.

Having missed the opportunity to finish the 2025/26 season with silverware, Stellenbosch are aiming to improve their league fortunes and climb up the table.

The Gavin Hunt-led side currently sits 13th in the standings, having collected 16 points from as many matches—recording four wins, four draws, and eight defeats.

With Stellenbosch desperate to break into the top eight, they are heading into the clash with Amakhosi searching for a vital maximum-point haul away from home.

Stellenbosch will face Chiefs without their key defender, Thabo Moloisane, and striker, Wonderboy Makhubu. The Bafana Bafana defender accumulated a red card in a match against Arrows last Saturday, and he will serve a two-match suspension. Moloisane has registered 24 appearances in all competitions this campaign.

On the other hand, Makhubu received a red card in a league match against Magesi FC last week, and he is serving the last match on the sidelines after sitting out of the Nedbank Cup match against Arrows.

The goal-poacher is one of the new faces at Stellenbosch after signing during the 2026 January transfer window from Sekhukhune United on a permanent deal. Before joining the Western Cape outfit, Makhubu spent the first round of the 2025/26 campaign on loan with Magesi. So far, Makhubu has featured in three matches in all competitions, and he’s still searching for his first goal at the club.
