Motsepe Foundation Championship side Gomora United has addressed the issue of unpaid player salaries and those of the technical staff amid growing concerns about the club’s internal welfare.

This follows a leaked communication sent to players and staff that they would only get 50 per cent of their salaries on 2 March 2026. The club cited financial constraints and unforeseen circumstances that have led to temporary cash flow challenges

Gomora United are one of the three newcomers in the National First Division in the 2025/26 season. They gained promotion to the professional ranks from the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.

The club currently occupies 12th position on the log, having collected 22 points from 19 fixtures. Gomora recently made the strategic move to Malamulele in Limpopo, citing a severe lack of resources within Gauteng. Paradoxically, the relocation comes despite Gauteng boasting a high concentration of stadiums that meet the standards set by the PSL.

โ€œThe club confirms that management engaged players directly and transparently about temporary cash flow challenges currently affecting operations. This internal engagement was done in good faith, with respect for our players and staff.

โ€œWhile internal correspondence is intended for direct stakeholders, the club remains committed to open communication, accountability, and resolving the situation as a matter of urgency.โ€

โ€œManagement is actively working to stabilise the club’s financial position and secure resources to ensure that all outstanding obligations are met. Gomora United FC values the commitment, professionalism, and unity of its players and technical team during this period.
