WHAT HEAD OF BRAND EXPERIENCE AT STANDARD BANK GROUP SAID ABOUT THE PARTNERSHIP WITH SAFA

Koza emphasised that the bank will provide a full suite of financial services and tailored support to help build sustainable growth from the grassroots level to the senior stage, starting in 2026.

โ€œPartnership between Africa’s largest bank by assets, present in 21 countries on the continent, and the South African Football Association, the custodian of our national teams and grassroots programs,” said Yolisa Koza.

“This is a pivotal moment for our organisation, for the game, for the players and for the millions of fans who unite behind our teams. So today, we proudly announce our partnership with all the national teams, Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana, Amajita, Amajimbos, Bantwana and Basetsana.

“From grassroots talent to senior national representation from 2026 and well into the future. It’s more than billboards and banners. It’s an investment in the future of South African football, powered by the bank’s full suite of financial services capabilities and through innovative financial solutions, tailored support for the players and communities, we are helping to build sustainable growth, nurture talent, talent and strengthen the foundations that continue to make this game the beating heart of our nation. ‘THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT MOMENT FOR SA FOOTBALL’: SAFA PRESIDENT DANNY JORDAAN

SAFA president Danny Jordaan hailed the agreement as a turning point for the associationโ€™s long-term stability.

โ€œThis is the most significant moment for South African football to have a Standard Bank, a major financial brand with a strong continental presence. As a partner, this partnership marks an important milestone on the journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. And that comes after a 15-year wait for success at the level of Bafana,” said Jordaan.

“Banyana is also on the way to the CAF Women’s Nations Cup and from the Women’s Nations Cup. Four teams will qualify for the World Cup in Brazil in 2027, so both are two major national teams on the way to the highest level of competition in the world.

“The challenge is not only for the current and the present, but our success to be sustainable must continue beyond Mexico, beyond the United States, and beyond Canada. So we are looking at this as a significant moment so that the brand is sustained. And what we have to do then is to look at the beginning of a new term, a longer term, and that comes in the form of what we call a SAFA vision 2030.โ€
