Monnapule Saleng has reacted to making his Mamelodi Sundowns debut after coming on as a substitute in a Betway Premiership match against Sekhukhune United at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.ย
The winger joined Masandawana from Orlando Pirates in January after spending the first half of the season at top-flight football newcomers Orbit College FC. He arrived at Chloorkop while carrying a thigh injury, which delayed his maiden appearance for the Brazilians.ย
Coach Miguel Cardoso finally handed him playing minutes, introducing the wideman as a second-half substitute to replace Tashreeq Matthews with 10 minutes to go – the score at 1-1. Immediately making a huge impact on debut, Saleng provided an assist for fellow substitute Iqraam Rayners to make it 2-1 for Sundowns just a minute after coming onto the pitch.ย
He was also involved in the build-up to Rayners’ second goal as the Brazilians romped to a 3-1 victory. His display might have been a hint about what to expect from him in Masandawana colours.
A CONFIDENT SALENG SAYS, โI HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER THIS TEAMโ

โLet me say thanks to the technical team, the coaches and also the players. The progression was good since training and coming into the game, and let me thank the coach for giving me the opportunity to play,โ said Saleng.ย
โIt made me feel welcomed. Itโs been a while since theyโve seen me play. I was happy, and I appreciate the reception from the supporters. ย Iโd also like to thank the captain, Themba Zwane and all the players for encouraging me in training. They have been motivating me at training.
โI just want to continue winning. Thatโs the only thing I want us to do, and thatโs the most important thing. It feels good for me because this is a team that always strives to win.ย ย
โIโm happy to be able to contribute to the three goals that were scored. It shows that I also have something to offer this team going forward.โ
