Marumo Gallants put up a performance full of passion and enthusiasm, coming back from behind to beat Chippa United 3-1 as two other Betway Premiership matches ended in stalemates on Wednesday night.

At Buffalo City Stadium, Gallants trailed at half-time but came back to haunt the Chilli boys in the second half. Kaketso Majadibodu thrust Chippa United ahead on the stroke of half-time with a powerful header from a corner-kick.

Majadibodu’s goal was enough to send The Chilli Boys to half-time leading against a battling Marumo Gallants. Simply put, this one started as a cagey affair and was reduced to a midfield battle with limited forward foray from both ends.

The Chilli boys picked up from where they left and could have doubled their scores two minutes into the second half but Azola Matrose failed to hit the target from close range. They were, however, punished for sloppy defending with Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo equalising for Gallants with a low shot from close range on the 53 minute mark.

Ten minutes later, Msindisi Kunene doubled Gallants’ scores with a powerful shot from inside the box after being picked unmarked by Katlego Otladisa. Mohamed Doumbia made it three for Gallants on the 80th minute. That was all they needed to win.

DURBAN CITY SHARE SPOILS WITH SEKHUKHUNE UNITED

Saziso Magawana and Tshepho Mashiloane were on target, respectively, as Durban City and Sekhukhune settled for a 1-1 draw in a pulsating match played at Chathsworth Stadium.

For Sekhukhune United, Siphesihle Mkhize and Vuyo Letlapa were a menace to Durban City FC in the opening exchanges. However, veteran goalkeeper Darren Keet was resolute in goal. They could not be separated at half-time but Sekhukhune United were left to rue a series of chances they got.

When the second half started, Durban City had the upperhand and Saziso Magawana put them ahead after 71 minutes. Magawana broke the deadlock with a right-footed shot from the centre of the box, to beat goalie Renaldo Leaner. Mashiloane restored parity for Sekhukhune United after 87 minutes, as they managed to salvage a point away from home.

THANDO NGWENYA SEES RED AS AMAZULU, MAGESI DRAW

At the Princess Magogo Stadium, ten men AmaZulu forced a share of spoils with troubled Magesi FC. Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya got the first clear chance of the match after 10 minutes but he failed to beat his compatriot and Magesi FC goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze from close range.

Nevertheless, the two teams were deadlocked at half time though with Usuthu enjoying better ball possession. Usuthu returned from the break with so much firepower but they were reduced to ten men when Ngwenya was red-carded after receiving his second yellow card.

From then on, Magesi were applying pressure, hoping to take advantage of their numerical advantage. However, Usuthu kept them at bay, forcing a stalemate.
