Kaizer Chiefs have responded to a concerned group of fans who marched to their Naturena base on Saturday morning. Amakhosi stated they had received a memorandum from supporters who marched to the club’s Village.

The march follows a four-match losing streak that saw them eliminated from the Nedbank Cup, which they won last season, as well as the CAF Confederation Cup. Following the disappointing run, the fans are calling for the removal of the club’s two co-coaches, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.

Speaking in an interview with Robert Marawa on 947 Radio, Chiefs’ sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr emphasised that results must improve quickly but insisted the club is taking a broader approach to addressing its challenges.

“As a club, we’re constantly evaluating ourselves, our processes, and there’s a ton of work that has been done behind the scenes. It’s not just about coaches, it’s not just about players, it’s about our whole footballing structure,” Motaung Jr said.

WHAT CHIEFS SAID ABOUT THE MEMO FROM FANS

In a brief statement issued following the march, the club confirmed that its representatives had accepted the document and highlighted that the engagement had occurred peacefully. “This morning, we received a memo from supporters who marched to the Village. We all cooperated with each other,” the club posted on X.

The Soweto giants also thanked fans for expressing their frustrations in an orderly manner and indicated that the issues raised will be considered internally. “We thank our supporters for sharing their concerns in a peaceful manner. We’ll review and respond to suggestions soon,” the statement added.

The club has not provided a timeline for when a formal response to supporters’ demands will be issued, but indicated that feedback from the memorandum will be reviewed in the coming days.

Chiefs are currently sixth on the Betway Premiership and will be looking to bounce back to winning ways next weekend. They welcome Durban City to the FNB Stadium, and a win will definitely move them up the table.
