Struggling Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards have secured the services of former Sekhukhune United left-back Cameron Carnell.
The 23-year-old is the nephew of former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs left-back Bradley Carnell, who is the coach of Major League Soccer [MLS] outfit Philadelphia Union.
He has turned out for clubs such as Sekhukhune, the now-defunct Bidvest Wits and Maritzburg United [renamed Durban City FC]. Carnell spent the past two seasons at Sekhukhune United but was unfortunately released upon the arrival of head coach Eric Tinkler.
FARPost had earlier reported that Carnell had been training with the Limpopo-based club with the hope of securing a contract.
LIFTED FIFA TRANSFER BAN CLEARS BLACK LEOPARDS OF SIGNING NEW PLAYERS

Despite impressing the technical team led by former coach Mabhuti Khenyeza, the move initially stalled following his departure. At the time, Leopards were hamstrung by a FIFA transfer ban, which prevented them from registering new talent.
Lidoda Duvha have since received the green light from the world football governing body to resume recruitment. This follows the successful resolution of long-standing complications within the FIFA Clearing House Client Portalโissues inherited during the club’s transition from All Stars FC.
This has allowed the club to finalise Carnellโs signing, who has also been included in the match-day squad under new co-coaches Sundra Govinder and Duncan Lechesa.
BLACK LEOPARDS CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL IN THE NATIONAL FIRST DIVISION
The Limpopo giants continue to fight for survival in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with only 11 matches remaining. ย The club currently sit at the bottom of the log with only 12 points and two victories.
Leopards recently parted ways with Khenyeza and roped in Govinder and Lechesa, hoping they would improve their current situation.
However, the duo’s tenure got off to a rocky start following a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Hungry Lions at Thohoyandou Stadium last week. They showed signs of improvement this past Saturday, displaying much-needed resilience to secure a 1-1 draw away to Midlands Wanderers.
