Siwelele FC duo Buhle Mkhwanazi and Wayde Lekay have disappeared from the club’s first-team setup earlier in the season, and their situation has since been revealed.
Lekay, formerly with Cape Town City FC and TS Galaxy, has struggled to find his footing since arriving at the club.
The 28-year-old has been restricted to a peripheral role, clocking just 155 minutes of competitive action across one start and four substitute appearances. His last outing was on September 20, 2025, in a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Magesi FC.
On the other hand, veteran defender Mkhwanazi initially appeared to be a cornerstone of the squad. After returning from a lengthy hiatus dating back to the COVID-19 era, the experienced centre-back was handed the captain’s armband for the opening fixtures against Golden Arrows and Orbit College FC.
However, his resurgence was short-lived. Much like Lekay, Mkhwanazi vanished from the matchday squads following the clash against Durban City FC on September 16, 2025.

The duo’s recruitment came before the departure of former SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews. Matthews had been a key figure during the transition period after SuperSport sold their top-flight status to the Bloemfontein outfit.
WHAT IS HAPPENING TO SIHLE MKHWANAZI AND WAYDE LEKAY?
Since their last appearances in September, the duo has not featured for the senior side. FARPost has confirmed that Mkhwanazi and Lekay are currently training with the club’s DDC side as management works on resolving their situations.
The developments come amid broader plans by the club’s leadership to reshape the squad. Chairman Calvin Le’John last year revealed that Siwelele intended to terminate the contracts of certain players who, according to him, “have not shown the heart or willingness to fight for this team.”
In January, Siwelele FC signed Mahlatse Makudubela and Moloisane Mokhele. Kgaogelo Sekgota also joined them after a stint in the third tier.
