Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck has opened up about his decision to sign a contract extension with Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
On Sunday, 8 March 2026, Simba confirmed that the former Bafana Bafana international has committed to a new one-year deal.
De Reuck joined Simba in July 2025 following his departure from the Betway Premiership defending champions, Sundowns, and has become an important member of the Tanzanian sideโs backline. He has also been given the captain’s armband.
Highlighting his vital role in the squad, the defender has already clocked over 16 appearances, netting three goals and several Man of the Match accolades since his arrival at Simba.
Reflecting on his decision to remain in Dar es Salaam, De Reuck noted that the unwavering support from both the clubโs leadership and the fans made the choice an easy one.
RUSHINE DE REUCK ON EXTENDING HIS STAY AT SIMBA SC

“I’m very happy, obviously. You know, from the first moment that I arrived at Simba, I felt a real connection with the fans. The way they welcomed me was amazing, and the appreciation they have shown me. So, I’m very happy that I can continue my stay here,” De Reuck told the club’s media department.
“The first person I told after I signed the deal was my mother. She is obviously happy for me, you know. She’s one person who knows what I have been through. It hasn’t been easy for me, but she can obviously see that I’m in a good space right now. She also wants me to continue as a Simba player.
“The reason I signed the new contract is that I came here to play football, and I’m doing that. But one of the main reasons is the real connection I have with the club. I’m really enjoying my football here, and I hope we can continue to create great memories and bring the club more success.”
WHAT RUSHINE DE REUCK IS HOPING TO ACHIEVE WITH SIMBA SC
De Reuck went on to express his determination to help the club win the Tanzanian elite league, as they last won the title in the 2020/21 season.
“The goal in the future is to compete in the knockout stages of CAF inter-club competitions. I think that’s the level we should aim for, and obviously, we should try to win the league,” he added.
“Simba hasn’t won the league in a while, so I really believe we have the players to achieve that. That’s something I’m looking forward to.”
