Kaizer Chiefs attacker Asanele Velebayi has laid out a roadmap for his tenure at Naturena, opening up about the personal milestones he is determined to hit in the gold and black colours of Amakhosi.
The 23-year-old was addressing the media ahead of Amakhosi’s Betway Premiership clash against Durban City FC. The encounter is scheduled for Sunday, 15 March, at the FNB Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15:30.
Velebayi joined Chiefs in August 2025 following a legal dispute with his former club, Cape Town Spurs FC.
Meanwhile, the Urban Warriors maintained that Velebayi, alongside teammates Luke Baartman and Liam Bern, remained contracted following their relegation to the ABC Motsepe League; the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber [DRC] eventually declared him a free agent.
Since arriving at Naturena, the talented winger has made eight appearances across all competitions.
WHAT ARE ASANELE VELEBAYI’S GOALS AT KAIZER CHIEFS?
Velebayi admits that his output in front of goal needs to improve to meet both his standards and the technical team’s expectations.

“For me, obviously, I have individual goals that I set for myself, and also, there are requirements from the coach. So, I know in terms of the stats, the stats are not on my side, to be honest,” said Velebayi. “So, for me, the goals that I set for myself are now to score more. I know I have been trying to create chances, but for me now, I think it’s time also that I need to start scoring more often.”
Velebayi went on to add that: “For the fans, we know we haven’t been in a good space mentally. Not only from them but also from us. We know their frustration, especially after losing the last four games.
“I just want to let them know that we are all in this together. And the good thing is, there’s a game coming up on Sunday, so we’ll be looking forward to it to make them happy again.”
The Soweto giants currently occupy sixth position on the Betway Premiership table, having collected 30 points from 18 fixtures. They are desperate for a win against Durban City after suffering three straight league losses.
