‘I’m supposed to be fired’: Allan Freese

Magesi FC head coach Allan Freese

Following a dismal run of form that has left Magesi FC reeling, veteran tactician Allan Freese took a remarkably candid stance on his future. Amidst mounting pressure and a stagnant campaign, Freese refused to shy away from the inevitable questions regarding his job security, addressing the precarity of the touchline with seasoned honesty.

The 69-year-old coach was speaking after Magesi fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Chippa United in their Betway Premiership encounter at Seshego Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

While the comeback showed character, the result does little to ease the pressure on a side desperately fighting for its top-flight survival.

Despite being brought in this February to stabilise a sinking ship following John Madukaโ€™s departure, Freese has struggled to turn the tide. The veteranโ€™s tactical intervention has yet to yield a single victory, with Magesi FCโ€™s winless run now stretching to a staggering 12 games. For a side fighting for its top-flight life, the drought has reached a critical tipping point.

ALLAN FREESEโ€™S BRUTAL HONEST ASSESSMENT OF HIS RECORD AT MAGESI

Since taking the reins, Freese has overseen four league outings, recording three draws and one defeat. As a result, Magesi collected three points out of a possible 12 points under the former Platinum Stars coach.

Magesi are still languishing at the bottom [16th place] of the Betway Premiership log standings with 14 points after 20 outings.

Freese, who was brought in to steady the ship and elevate the squad’s performance, acknowledged that while there might be a bit of improvement, the league table tells a much harsher story as they continue to fail to win matches.

The experienced coach went as far as to suggest that, under normal circumstances, such a record of results would warrant a dismissal.

“Well, my job was to motivate the players and help them get to another level, which I’m doing, as you can see,” said Freese.

“Yes, the fact that we haven’t won games in so many matches isn’t good. Okay, today was my fourth game, so four games and three pointsโ€”not good, hey? Not good at all. Out of a possible 12 points, we got three, so I’m supposed to be fired.”
