‘He’ll find his rhythm’: Vilakazi maintains faith in Sinoxolo Kwayiba

Chippa United head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has weighed in on Sinoxolo Kwayiba’s lack of killer instinct in front of goal in the last three matches they have played.

The 26-year-old returned to the Chilli Boys in the January transfer window from the Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, whom he had joined in July last year from the Gqeberha-based outfit.

However, Kwayiba struggled to break into the Buccaneers’ starting eleven, as he only managed to make four appearances during his brief stint at Pirates.

In order to secure regular game time, both clubs agreed to a deal that saw the talented forward return to the Chilli Boys.

Kwayiba hit the ground running upon his return, netting three goals in his first three matchesโ€”including a brace against Durban City FC in the Betway Premiership KZN derby on 31 January.

However, the goals have dried up recently. Kwayiba has now gone three consecutive matches without finding the back of the net, despite playing the full 90 minutes in each encounter.

WHAT VUSUMUZI VILAKAZI SAID ABOUT SINOXOLO KWAYIBA’S MISFIRING

Speaking on the player’s recent “misfiring,” Vilakazi insisted he remains unconcerned, noting that Kwayiba’s overall contribution to the team remains high.

“You know, I also counted the goal [a missed chance]. Knowing how clinical he is in front of goal, I already saw it in the back of the net,” said Vilakazi after their 2-2 draw with Magesi FC at Seshego Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

“However, it was just not meant to be. Itโ€™s one of those days where he may not be at his best in terms of finishing. But he worked very hard and gave us a lot today [referring to Saturday’s game against Magesi].

“It is fine; this is water under the bridge. He will find his rhythm again. We will see as we go into the next game.”
