Former Orlando Pirates and Magesi FC head coach Owen Da Gama has expressed his desire to one day find himself coaching Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The veteran coach has been without a job since parting ways with Botswana Premier League side Black Lions. Prior to his move to Botswana, Da Gama was in charge at Betway Premiership side Magesi FC.
The 64-year-old also had a short stint at SAFA ABC Motsepe League side Vondwe XI Bullets.
Da Gama is a well-travelled coach, having also had a stint at Orlando Pirates, Dynamos, Black Leopards, Platinum Stars, Highlands Park, and TS Galaxy.
WHAT OWEN DA GAMA SAYS ABOUT INTEREST IN THE KAIZER CHIEFS JOB
Speaking during a recent interview on SABC Radio Phalaphala FM, Da Gama revealed that a coaching job at Amakhosi was on his bucket list.

“I am saying Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs is the club I want. If I can get Chiefs just for a season only,โ he said.
โIt’s on my bucket list if the opportunity arises. If only I can get Chiefs I can tell you. I donโt want to overhype myself, but it’s on my bucket list. But I wouldn’t mind any other team.โ
Da Gama also expressed gratitude to Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza, whom he worked under during the 2007/08 season.
“I learnt a lot from Dr Irvin Khoza, and I am still grateful that I was given the opportunity to work at Orlando Pirates. That opportunity put me on the map, let’s be honest.
“The PSL is a big brand. What Dr Khoza did for football in this country is big. The PSL is one of the biggest leagues in Africa. So I think the standard of football in the country has grown tremendously.โ
