Mamelodi Sundowns legend Esrom Nyandoro has landed a new role in Zimbabwe — which will see him team up with fellow ex-Masandawana player Cuthbert Malajila.

Malajila was appointed as the team manager of Kwekwe United FC, a team competing in the Central Region Soccer League. The Central Region Soccer League is one of the country’s four first divisional leagues, where one team is promoted to the Premier Soccer League at the end of every season.

Kwekwe United were relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after struggling mightily in 2025. They finished the campaign at the bottom with a record-low, ten points from 34 matches.

Financial woes hampered their efforts, leading to key player and coach exits. However, for the 2026 season, they received a decent sponsorship from Betterbrands Group and have been on a recruitment drive.

As such, they have appointed Nyandoro as their talent scout. He will work hand in glove with Malajila, who is in his maiden managerial role.

Kwekwe United FC president Bridgette Mudhosi revealed Nyandoro’s appointment, hoping he will help them rise above waters and gain promotion to the PSL.

Mudhosi said: “We want to start programs. Our Warriors legend Esrom Nyandoro, he is helping us in the department of scouting. We’re looking at grooming and giving opportunities to young players.

“And that way we can groom players and be able to sell them. We make money for the club, so we’re looking at different programs to generate income for the club, so we can be self-sustainable.”

In addition, the ex-Zimbabwe international is making good strides with his newly founded Esrom Nyandoro Foundation. The foundation aims to tackle poverty by funding underprivileged students in Zimbabwe and beyond.

Nyandoro wants to harness football’s power to drive discipline and mentorship across Africa. To kickstart the foundation’s funding, the 46-year-old sold off sentimental jerseys. These include framed AFCON jerseys and signed kits from former teammates.
