Scottland FC head coach Norman Mapeza has predicted a reinvention for Khama Billiat in 2026, despite the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star being in the twilight of his career.
Billiat endured a tough 2025 season in Zimbabwe, despite winning the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title with Scottland FC.
He only managed one goal in 34 matches. This time, Billiat has already managed two goals in three matches, a brace he scored in his first start of the season against Manica Diamonds FC on Thursday. In the first two matches, Billiat was restricted to cameo appearances.
WHAT NORMAN MAPEZA SAID ABOUT KHAMA BILLIAT

However, former Chippa United coach Mapeza has revealed the hard work that the 35-year-old has been putting in to return to his best. The Zimbabwean international, along with another ex-Chiefs star, Knowledge Musona, are expected to provide leadership and stability when Scottland FC plunge into the 2026/27 CAF Champions League.
“He [Khama Billiat] is a massive player for us….after those three difficult matches, we rested Knowledge Musona and Billiat started,” said Mapeza. “Maybe it would have been a hat-trick. We lost two chances in the first-half [in the midweek clash against Manica Diamonds FC], but it would have been a hat-trick. But I’m more than happy for him. He was hitting some challenges last season, but he will rise again.”
Mapeza added: “He is a player with pace, skill, and vision. He has been working hard, and it’s paying off. I believe he’ll rise to the occasion this season, and we’ll see great things from him. His movement off the ball is top-notch, and his finishing is clinical. He is a threat every time he steps onto the pitch.
“I think we need to be patient. As I said, you know, I can’t fault the boys in the first two games. We’re on five points now. Billiat’s contribution has been huge, and I’m excited to see what he does in the remaining games.”
