Siphelele Mthembu resurfaces at ABC Motsepe League side

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates forward Siphelele Mthembu has resurfaced at a new club, joining Dinoko City FC in the SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

The veteran striker was in action for Dinoko during their 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates. The league clash took place on Friday, 20 March, at Generation School in Modderfontein.

Mthembu previously turned out for TUT, who also compete in the Gauteng division of the SA third-tier, before making the switch to Dinoko.

Interestingly, the experienced frontman found the back of the net for Dinoko against the Buccaneers. He was introduced in the second-half of the showpiece.

As things stand, Dinoko occupy fifth position in their provincial Motsepe League table with 45 points after 27 matches. They currently trail log leaders Free Agents FC by six points.

SIPHELELE MTHEMBU EXPECTED TO HELP DINOKO CITY CHALLENGE FOR LEAGUE TITLE

โ€˜Shaka Zuluโ€™, as he is affectionately known, is expected to provide much-needed leadership as Dinoko look to challenge for the league title, given his experience in the South African top-flight and the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Mthembu has played over 200 Betway Premiership matches. In those matches, he scored 33 and weighed in with 14 assists as per Transfermarkt.

Some of the prominent clubs that Mthembu represented in his football career include the likes of Golden Arrows, Cape Town City FC, Bloemfontein Celtic, Free State Stars, Platinum Stars, AmaZulu FC, Baroka FC, and Pretoria Callies.

Dinoko’s next league assignment is a fixture against Young Pirates FC on Tuesday, 24 March. The showdown will be staged at the Meyerton Stadium, with kick-off set for 15:00.

With seven matches remaining in the campaign, Dinoko will be looking to finish strongly to secure a spot in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs. The ultimate goal is to gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
