Orlando Pirates have cemented their DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] top spot following a convincing ย 3-0 win over Orbit College FC on Sunday.

The win at Olympia Park in Rustenburg sees the Buccaneers move three points clear of their rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, as the race for the reserve league title heats up.

The Sea Robbers now sit at the top of the log with 57 points from 23 matches. However, Pirates have a game in hand over Masandawana, giving them an advantage going into their last seven matches.

Beyond the points gap, Piratesโ€™ clinical nature in front of goal has handed them a superior goal difference of +39, compared to Sundownsโ€™ +33.

The Buccaneers’ advantage at the summit was widened on Wednesday, 18 March after the PSL DC found Polokwane City FC guilty of fielding two ineligible players in the October 2025 fixture between the two sides.

Therefore, the match was awarded to Pirates with a 3-0 scoreline. The showdown initially ended in a 2-1 victory in favour of Rise and Shine. This match was part of the DDC festival, held at Baroka Village โ€“ Mafori Stadium.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS KEEPING THE PRESSURE ON

Despite Piratesโ€™ dominance, Sundowns aren’t backing down. Bafana Ba Style ensured the gap didn’t widen further by securing a 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday.

The clean sheet reinforces the defensive discipline of the Tiro van Rooyen-coached side, who remain the only realistic threat to Pirates’ quest for DDC glory.

In another Sunday action, Kaizer Chiefs continued their decent form with a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Magesi FC at Dobsonville Stadium.

The win extended the Glamour Boys’ unbeaten streak to five matches. The result leaves Amakhosi in fifth place on the table having accumulated 36 points after 23 games.
