Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has explained what striker Glody Lilepo offers the team, spotting what makes the DR Congo international a key member of their squad.
Lilepo has scored three Betway Premiership goals this season while also providing two assists. The 28-year-old has also scored four goals in the CAF Confederation Cup, making him involved in goals more than any other Chiefs player this season.
Flavio da Silva, who comes after him, has managed five league goals, weighing in with one strike in the Nedbank Cup and has struck once in the Confederation Cup without any assists in all competitions.
As the Soweto giants struggle for silverware this season, Lilepo has come through for the club when it mattered the most with some crucial goal contributions. What might not surprise Chiefs coaches is that the attacker hinted at hitting the current exploits when he scored five league goals and made an assist after joining Chiefs midway through last season.
Making the Amakhosi attacker important at Naturena is his versatility. He has thrived while coming in from the wings, as well as being a target man, providing the flexibility needed by the Chiefs coaches.

“I believe he is a player with a lot of experience; he has been in big clubs, and he is a player who has a lot of qualities. He is fast, he can play as a striker, for example, against Magesi FC of the last 20 minutes of the previous game [against Durban City FC],” said Kaze.
“He can hold the ball, he can run behind the backline, and he is a player who is calm when he is inside the box. You don’t find a lot of strikers who can do his movements.
“The goal he scored the last time [against Durban City], he took two steps to put himself in a good position far from the defender. That’s why we value him.”
