Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie has addressed the departure of Brendon Fourie, with the club confirming that the experienced Head of Recruitment and Analysis is heading to Orlando Pirates.

He had been part of Stellies family since December 2022. His departure comes after he notified the Cape Winelands-based outfit of his desire to pursue a new challenge with the Buccaneers.

Fourie announced his exit from the Gavin Hunt-coached side on Sunday, 22 March, and bid farewell to the club.

“Iโ€™m incredibly lucky to have had something that makes it so hard to say goodbye. It has been an incredible privilege to work for and represent the club of my dreams, my hometown club, Stellenbosch FC,” wrote Fourie on his official social media platforms.

“Thank you to the players, staff, our incredible fans and the Board for everything over the last 3.5 years. Itโ€™s been the best years of my life. God bless and see you soon.”

‘IT’S DISAPPOINTING TO LOSE A PERSON OF BRENDONโ€™S CALIBRE’: ROB BENADIE

While losing a key member of the technical backroom is a blow for Stellies, CEO Benadie maintained a professional stance, emphasising that the club’s structures would ensure continuity under coach Hunt.

โ€œIt is, of course, disappointing to lose a person of Brendonโ€™s calibre, but we respect his decision and wish him all the best,โ€ said Stellenbosch CEO, Benadie.

โ€œHe played a valuable role in helping shape the success of Stellenbosch FC in recent years and departed with the gratitude of all associated with the club.

โ€œSupporters can, however, rest assured that the strength of this club has never relied on any single individual. We have built a robust sporting infrastructure with many talented staff members who remain fully committed. We look forward to a strong finish to the current season.โ€
