Former Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Benedict Vialakazi has urged Kaizer Chiefs to consider roping in two respected figures in South African football, including a former Mamelodi Sundowns chief scout.
Amakhosi have been struggling to win trophies this season. Also, reading the football direction the club is taking appears discouraging to some. The Soweto giants are almost assured to end the season without winning any trophy.
Having missed out on the Carling Knockout Cup, Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup, chances of Amakhosi winning the Betway Premiership look very slim. Their realistic opportunity of ending the season respectably is a top-three finish in the league. That would grant them the right to play continental football next season.
But problems at Naturena have been dissected to range from incapable coaches, transfer blunders and a management that lacks clear vision.
It is something the Soweto giants might not be able to fix this season, but could work to solve ahead of next term. Vilakazi feels that the Motaung family, running the affairs of Chiefs, needs an outside hand to assist them.

“My sincere advice to Amakhosi, and specifically Dr Kaizer Motaung, is this: ‘keep your children and family in the administrative office. Let them remain strictly upstairs’,” Vilakazi stated on Omni Audio Africa. “I respect them and have no personal grievances; they have worked incredibly hard. However, they shouldn’t be involved in the technical operations.
“The club needs a shift in direction by appointing someone to run the football side of —someone to employ the coach, scout, sign, and release players. You need specialists dedicated to recruitment. Should I suggest a name? Please consider this,” the Pirates’ all-time leading scorer continued.
“Two specific names come to mind, and you should choose between them: Sudesh Singh or Farouk Khan. I believe if you cannot secure both, you must get one. The team desperately requires an external perspective to help restructure and put the pieces together. That is my honest recommendation to Dr Kaizer Motaung.”
Singh was Sundowns’ chief scout from 2008 to 2011, while Khan is credited with producing quality players during his time as a development coach at Chiefs years ago.
