Orlando Pirates are set to welcome a scouting and recruitment specialist, Brendon Fourie, from Stellenbosch FC. Here’s a look at some of the players Stellies brought in during his tenure at the Lentelus Sports Grounds.

After joining Stellenbosch FC in January 2022, Fourie made a bold shift from finance into football. A trained Chartered Accountant, the Stellenbosch-born expert turned his back on the corporate world to create knowledge and a career in the beautiful game.

He studied Football Business through the Johan Cruyff Institute in partnership with FC Barcelona. Fourie also completed a Mini MBA in Sporting Directorship, qualified as a Certified Football Tactical Analyst via the Barca Innovation Hub, and also earned a Level 1 in Talent Identification.

“It is, of course, disappointing to lose a person of Brendon’s calibre, but we respect his decision and wish him all the best,” said Stellenbosch FC CEO, Rob Benadie. “He played a valuable role in helping shape the success of Stellenbosch FC in recent years and departs with the gratitude of all associated with the club,” Benadie added.

After three and a half years at Stellenbosch, Fourie oversaw the scouting and recruitment of around 19 players. Orlando Pirates supporters will be delighted to learn that Fourie’s catalogue features a variety of players, including Betway Premiership performers, emerging young stars in the DStv Diski Challenge, and international gems in Africa and Europe.
