The SAFA Vhembe region elections are set to take place on Saturday, 28 March, with a close ally of president Danny Jordaan expected to easily retain his position as chairperson.

Various regions across the country have been electing new leadership structures ahead of the much-awaited national congress to be held later this year.

Jordaan is said to be vying for a fourth term, while no clear challenger has been confirmed.

Names like former Leeds United captain Lucas Radebe, as well as Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung, have been mentioned as possible candidates to challenge Jordaan, but nothing official has been said from their side.

They are Waterberg, led by current NEC member and SAFA Technical Committee chairperson Jack Maluleke; Capricorn Region, led by Jacky Mogashoa; Vhembe, led by Jabulani Ndobe; and Sekhukhune, led by SAFA Limpopo deputy president and head of competitions Magabolle Thokwane.

FARPost also understands that all executives from the region are expected to be retained for another four-year term at Masili Guest House in Sibasa when the elective congress sits on Saturday – today.

Ndobe, who took over from George Kubayi four years ago, will continue at the helm, reportedly unchallenged, while Colbert Nempumbuluni is expected to retain his position as 1st deputy president. Ephraim Singo and Norah Mudzielwana are expected to continue serving as 2nd and 3rd deputy presidents, respectively.

Current general secretary of the association, Samuel Matodzi, is also set to be the only contender for the position.
