Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United are closing in on Walter Steenbok, edging out Siwelele FC to his signature.
Siwelele had been in discussions with Steenbok in recent weeks as they sought to bolster their football structure by bringing in a seasoned strategist.
The former SAFA technical directorโs presence around the club, including appearances at training sessions in Johannesburg and during their 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates, signalled that a deal was close.
However, FARPost has established that Babina Noko had made their intentions clearer earlier in the season. The Limpopo-based outfit is in pole position to land one of the most respected figures in South African football administration.
Steenbok is being considered for a key role in the technical department, where he will work closely with the clubโs sporting director, McDonald Makhubedu. Indications suggest that the two will work together to improve the clubโs technical and recruitment structures.
Their relationship dates back a few years, with Steenbok having played a role in Makhubeduโs coaching education during his SAFA stint, a dynamic that could prove crucial in aligning the clubโs long-term football vision. Makhubedu holds a CAF A license.
