BREAKING NEWS: Kaizer Chiefs launch women’s team

Kaizer Chiefs Ladies launched

Kaizer Chiefs have officially ventured into women’s football, unveiling their newly formed ladies’ side in Daveyton on Tuesday.

The move marks a historic milestone for the Naturena-based giants, who have long been under pressure to establish a women’s team to align with CAF requirements.

In a statement released on March 31, 2026, the club described the launch as a “dream years in the making” and a “new heartbeat” for the Village.

The Glamour Girls begin their journey with a formidable squad of 24 players. Leading the charge on the pitch is veteran midfielder and former Banyana Banyana star Mamello Makhabane, whose experience is expected to be a driving force of the team’s debut season.

The side will be coached by Unathi Mabena, who will be assisted by Justice Khunou.

Chiefs Ladies will play their home games at the Kaizer Chiefs Village and the Kwa Thema Stadium in Springs.

While many expected Amakhosi to perhaps acquire a Hollywoodbets Super League status, the club has opted to build from the ground up, as the team will compete in the Sasol League.

The project carries the personal blessing of club chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung, citing that this is not merely a box-ticking exercise, but a serious “commitment to the future of South African football.”
