TS Galaxy against Milford FC in a Nedbank Cup semi-final match.

2019 Nedbank Cup champions TS Galaxy are through to the final following a 4-3 win on penalties against Milford FC at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga on Sunday. The game ended 1-1 after extra time.

The home side dominated possession in the early stages of the match, piling pressure on the Milford FC defence. However, the visitors were the first team to capitalise against the run of play.

Striker Siphosethu Ndlabi netted the opening goal of the match in the 11th minute after tapping on a cross to beat a helpless Ira Tape in the 11th minute.

Ndlabi was causing more trouble for the Galaxy defence and nearly got his second of the match four minutes later, but his header missed the target.

Milford gained more confidence after the goal and dominated more towards the end of the first half.ย  Despite a few attempts, the two teams went into the half-time break at 1-0 in favour of the Motsepe Foundation Championship side.

Galaxy made two half-time changes, bringing in Mlungisi Mbunjana in place of Mpho Mvelase, while Veluyeke Zulu came in for MacBeth Mahlangu. The changes proved to have had an immediate impact as Galaxy looked more aggressive, searching for an equaliser.

The goal eventually came for the home side via a header from Victor Letsoalo 10 minutes into the second half. As a result of the goal, Galaxy started to dominate.

Milford goalkeeper Siphamandla Hleza made a brilliant save to deny Tshepo Kakora with five minutes to go. However, Milford nearly stole the game during the referee’s optional time, but Galaxy goalkeeper Ira Tape produced a world-class save, forcing the match into extra-time.

The two teams could not be separated after 120 minutes of football, with Galaxy winning 4-3 on penalties to book a place in the final

Galaxy will now meet Durban City FC in the final on 2 May 2026 at a venue yet to be confirmed. Durban City advanced to the final after a 1-0 win against Casric Stars at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
