Blow for TS Galaxy as Mbunjana & two other stars are set to miss Chiefs tie

TS Galaxy players circling for pre-match ritual

Embattled TS Galaxy will be without three key players on their trip to the FNB Stadium in Soweto to face Kaizer Chiefs in a Betway Premiership match on Sunday afternoon.

The Rockets are trying to pick themselves up as they are currently enduring a difficult run of form. They come up against a resurgent Chiefs side that has won its last three league games.

Amakhosi’s current form eased pressure after going for a four-match losing streak. They are now third on the Betway Premiership table, setting themselves up for finishing the season in third spot and returning to play CAF Confederation Cup football next season.

Galaxy are now up to face the Soweto giants, who are keen to avoid a relapse in form. This comes as the season has reached a critical stage where dropping points could prove costly.

Adnan Beganovic and his men will head to Soweto trying to shake off a discouraging eight-match winless run in the league. That streak includes seven defeats and a draw, leaving them 12th in the standings.

The difficult patch also involves the 6-0 drubbing by Orlando Pirates just before the recent FIFA international break.

Eight points separate the Rockets and basement side Magesi FC, who have played a game less. While TS Galaxy have reached the final of the Nedbank Cup, that performance in the knockout competition has not translated into improved fortunes on the league front.

WHO JOINS MBUNJANA ON SUSPENSION LIST?

While Beganovic needs his key men in their remaining seven games, he has been dealt a big blow as they visit Chiefs without three players. Captain Mlungisi Mbunjana and forward Junior Zindoga are suspended after each accumulated four yellow cards with bookings during Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat by Polokwane City FC.

They will also be without defender Lentswe Motaung, who will be serving his last match of suspension after being red-carded against Pirates. This will be the third straight match for the right-back out suspended, as the sending off against the Buccaneers was the second this season. The setbacks come at a critical stage of the season for the Mpumalanga-based side.

They, however, still have a chance to secure a top-half finish to the season as Golden Arrows, who are in position eight, have only three points more than Beganovic’s side.
