PSL announce Nedbank Cup final venue

The Premier Soccer League [PSL] has officially announced the venue for the 2025/26 Nedbank Cup final following the conclusion of the semi-final action this past weekend.

The announcement was made live on the PSLโ€™s SuperSport Channel 202 on Thursday evening, 9 April 2026, putting an end to the anticipation regarding where the new ‘Ke Yona’ champion will be crowned.

In addition, the announcement included the formal home-and-away draw to determine administrative logistics for the day. Durban City FC were drawn as the home side, while TS Galaxy will be the away side.

And for for the first time in recent seasons, the Nedbank final will not feature any of South Africa’s ‘Big Three’โ€”Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, or Mamelodi Sundowns.

THE ROAD TO THE NEDBANK CUP FINAL

The final will see Betway Premiership sides Durban City FC and TS Galaxy go head-to-head in a clash between two teams determined to lift the title.

Both teams secured their spots after overcoming resilient Motsepe Foundation Championship opponents [Casric Stars and Milford FC] in the tournament’s semi-finals.

Durban City secured their place in the final on Saturday, 4 April, with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Casric Stars at Chatsworth Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Rockets booked their spot the following day, Sunday, 5 April, after a dramatic penalty shootout. The Mpumalanga club played out a 1-1 draw after extra time against Milford FC at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium before winning 4-3 on penalties.

NEW PETER MOKABA STADIUM TO HOST NEDBANK CUP FINALE

This yearโ€™s Nedbank Cup final will be held at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The encounter is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 2 May 2026. However, the PSL will confirm the kick-off time in due course.

Kaizer Chiefs were unable to defend their Nedbank Cup crown, crashing out in the Round of 32 after a 2-1 loss to Stellenbosch FC. Itโ€™s a bitter pill to swallow for Amakhosi, who had ended a 10-year wait for silverware just last May with a 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

As a result, Durban City will be looking to secure their first major silverware since their rebranding.

Meanwhile, TS Galaxy aim to replicate their famous 2019 heroics when they became the first lower-division side to win the competition by stunning Chiefs 1-0 in the final.
