While celebrations of their Mukuru 4 Nations success are still fresh, the Warriors of Zimbabwe have been presented with yet another golden opportunity to shine.

The Warriors are set to participate in another four-nations tournament, this time in London, where they will take on Nigeria, Jamaica, and India in the Unity Cup 2026 โ€” a tournament that’s making a comeback after a 22-year hiatus. The tournament will be held between 26 and 30 May.

While Zimbabwe has faced Nigeria eight times in various competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] and FIFA World Cup qualifiers, this will be the first time they will take on Jamaica and India.

Coach Marian Marinica has been given another shot to test his squad’s pedigree. During the Mukuru 4 Nations tournament, he gave players, including Mongameli Tshuma, Panashe Makwiramiti, and Corbin Mthunzi, their debuts.

Tshuma and Mthunzi have emerged as fan favourites, with the former already being chased by unnamed Betway Premiership clubs. Meanwhile, TS Galaxy’s Junior Zindoga, Magesi FC’s Elvis Chipezeze, and Orlando Pirates‘ Daniel Msendami were on fire in the tournament.

This is a huge boost for Zimbabwean national team players, who previously didn’t have many international friendlies to showcase their skills and earn their places in the team.

In a statement released on Wednesday, ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi expressed excitement at the development, while coach Marinica said they’ve been given a strong platform to shine.

Magwizi said: “This is a landmark moment for Zimbabwe football. It reflects our ambition to compete, grow, and test ourselves at a high international level.”

Warriors’ coach Marinica echoed the same sentiments. “This is a strong platform for us as a team and an important chance to represent Zimbabwe with pride on an international stage,” he added.

Team captain Marvelous Nakamba expressed optimism ahead of the tourney, stating that they’re ready to conquer again.

“It’s always an honour to represent Zimbabwe, and playing in London in front of our supporters in the diaspora makes this occasion even more special.”
