Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United have officially announced the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns versatile player Rivaldo Coetzee.

Coetzee has been without a club since his departure from the defending champions at the end of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

The 29-year-old spent eight seasons with the Tshwane giants after joining the club back in 2017 from Ajax Cape Town, now Cape Town Spurs.

He spent some time on the sidelines working with his personal doctor to fully recover from injury following his departure at Masandawana. After spending time training with Babina Noko under the guidance of Eric Tinkler, the club has made a decision to sign the player.

Coetzee is likely to be part of the squad for the Limpopo derby against Magesi FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. Sekhukhune are in the race to secure a place in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

They are currently fifth in the Betway Premiership with 35 points, four behind Kaizer Chiefs who are currently occupying the third position, which can also qualify them for the CAF Confederation Cup.

The club has experienced some inconsistency in terms of results in their last few matches. Their last win was against University of Pretoria in the Nedbank Cup in February this year. After that, they lost three and drew three in their last six matches.
