Golden Arrows and Durban City FC

Golden Arrows bounced back from their humiliating 5-0 loss against Orlando Pirates after defeating Durban City FC 1-0 in the KZN Derby at King Zwelithini Stadium, while Siwelele FC played to a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu FC.

Manqoba Mnqgithi and his charges collected maximum points, moving them to eighth on the Betway Premiership table after accumulating 31 points in 24 matches.

Arrows and Durban City locked horns, both looking to return to winning ways after suffering defeats in their respective league matches. Abafana Besโ€™thende lost 5-0 to Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday nightโ€”a result they have since put behind them.

They are nowย aiming for a strong finish to the 2025/26 campaign to secure a top-eight spot and qualify for the 2027 MTN8.

On the other hand, Durban City were beaten 1-0 by defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Chatsworth Stadium in midweek. Both sides started the match like a house on fire, with each team searching for an early opener.

Arrows drew first blood in the 37th minute through highly-rated midfielder Isaac Cisse, who found the back of the net to ensure a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break. Although Durban City fought hard to find a way back into the contest in the second half, Abafana Besโ€™thende stood firm defensively to claim bragging rights over their KZN rivals.

AMAZULU SHARED SPOILS WITH SIWELELE

In another match on Saturday afternoon, AmaZulu FC and Siwelele FC faced off at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium with three points at stake. Siwelele had an impressive start to the match and broke the deadlock in the 30th minute with a strike from former Pirates winger Vincent Pule.

With the match heading towards the final whistle, Usuthu scored the equaliser courtesy of Mlondi Mbanjwa in the 80th minute to grab a crucial point away from home. Remarkably, they managed to find the back of the net while playing with a man down, following a second yellow card shown to AmaZulu’s Nkosikhona Radebe in the 60th minute.

The result leaves AmaZulu fourth on the log with 39 points, while Siwelele are 10th with 27 points.
