Sekhukhune United ended their poor run in the Betway Premiership with a dramatic win over Magesi FC, while Chippa United and Polokwane City FC drew in matches played on Saturday evening.
At the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in the Limpopo Derby, Sekhukhune beat Magesi FC 1-0 courtesy of Bright Ndlovu’s late strike. Ndlovu’s goal, scored in the sixth minute of added time, denied rock-bottom Dikwena Tsa Meetse a share of the spoils.
Eric Tinkler’s side had looked set for a sixth straight game without a win as Magesi could not be cowed into submission. Magesi had created early chances, with Samuel Darpoh forcing Renaldo Leaner into a save, but Sekhukhune grew into the game.
The hosts had several chances, including a Vuyo Letlapa header that flew just wide, but Allan Freese’s side defended well. However, Ndlovu secured a crucial win for Sekhukhune, who had been struggling for form. This win lifts the team’s spirit, and they will now look to build on this momentum. The victory also keeps them in contention for a top-three finish.
Magesi, on the other hand, are still searching for consistency and remain at the bottom of the Betway Premiership log table with 17 points from 23 matches. Sekhukhune now sit in fifth position with 38 points.
CHIPPA, POLOKWANE CITY SHARE SPOILS

At the Buffalo City Stadium, Chippa United were looking to keep their momentum after their latest win over Siwelele FC. However, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Polokwane City FC. They started their match against Polokwane City FC at a high tempo, searching for an early breakthrough in the first half.
Goodman Mosele, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, and Malebogo Modise had some good chances but failed to beat the Polokwane City FC goalie. On the other hand, Zimbabwean Juan Mutudza missed a sitter on the stroke of half-time, while Tholo Matuludi and Mokibelo Ramabu also squandered good chances for Polokwane City FC.
Chippa finally broke the deadlock on the 42nd minute mark via Malebogo Modise, whose powerful left-footed shot was too strong for goalie Lindokuhle Mathebula. Kwayiba was the provider.
They went to the break sitting on the slender lead, but Polokwane City turned up the heat in the last 15 minutes to equalise in the 85th minute through Ndamulelo Maphangule.
