Kaizer Chiefsโ resurgence continued in spectacular fashion on Sunday afternoon as they dispatched TS Galaxy 2-0 at FNB Stadium to claim their fourth consecutive Betway Premiership victory.
Flavio da Silva scored a first half goal while Glody Lilepo netted late in the second half to give Chiefs their 12th win of the season.
The home side welcomed back number one goalkeeper and captain Brandon Petersen, who has been missing since early March due to an injury.
Galaxy came into the match missing three key players due to suspensions. This includes captain Mlungisi Mbunjana, Zimbabwean international striker Junior Zindoga as well as right-back Lentswe Motaung.
Chiefs dominated the first half and showed more aggression than the visitors, creating some early chances but failing to convert.
Flavio da Silva missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring for Amakhosi in the 21st minute, with the goalkeeper to beat, but he was quickly intercepted by Galaxy defender Igor Salatiel Silva before he could unleash a shot.

On-form midfielder Lebohang Maboe was the next with an opportunity at the half-hour mark, but his shot missed the target.
Amakhosi kept piling more pressure on the visitors and were finally rewarded through a header from Da Silva after a cross from Mduduzi Shabalala, 10 minutes before the half-time break. The two teams went into the half-time break with Amakhosi leading 1-0.
However, Galaxy showed more determination in the second half and nearly found the equaliser through Seluleko Mahlambi with only two minutes played in the half.
The match was temporarily suspended in the 65th due to flood lights failure. It was further delayed due to lightning closer to the stadium. After the long wait, the match finally resumed.
Amakhosi doubled their lead via Makabi Lilepo who ran from his own half to beat a Galaxy player and keeper Ira Eliezer Tape.
As a result of the win, Chiefs are third with 42 points, 13 behind rivals Orlando Pirates in second place but Amakhosi have two games in hand.
