Orlando Pirates have cemented their top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC], but Mamelodi Sundowns are refusing to back down, keeping the pressure firmly on the leaders.
The Buccaneers travelled to Chatsworth Stadium, where they managed to secure an important 1-0 victory over Richards Bay FC on Sunday.
The result was more than just three points; it provided the Sea Robbers with a boost, extending their lead at the top of the log to six points.
As it stands, Pirates occupy the pole position with 63 points after 26 matches. However, it is still early for the Soweto giants to celebrate, as the Brazilians are maintaining the pressure.
While the gap looks healthy for the Buccaneers, the Chloorkop-based outfit made it clear they aren’t ready to surrender as yet. Bafana Ba Style secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Stellenbosch FC at Tuks Stadium on Saturday.
Sundowns currently sit in second place with 57 points. However, Masandawana hold a game in hand over the leaders, Pirates. Should they capitalise on that fixture, the six-point cushion will be reduced to just three points.

KAIZER CHIEFSโ UNBEATEN RUN CONTINUES
Further down the top four, Kaizer Chiefs maintained their decent form and recent resilience. The Glamour Boys extended their unbeaten streak to eight games following a 1-1 draw against Siwelele FC at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.
While Vela Khumaloโs charges would have preferred maximum points at home, the draw keeps their momentum going. Amakhosi remain in fourth position on the log, sitting on 43 points from 26 matches.
