Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siboniso Gaxa has named TS Galaxy winger Seluleko Mahlambi as the first signing Amakhosi should target for next season.

The 21-year-old Mahlambi was promoted to the TS Galaxy first team in the 2024/25 season. He made his professional debut against Orlando Pirates, a match chosen by coach Adnan Beganovic to test the young player’s temperament against high-level opposition.

He quickly established himself as a versatile and technically gifted winger, capable of operating on both the left and right flanks. By the early stages of the 2025/26 season, Mahlambi had become a breakout star.

With 30 appearances for the Rockets in all competitions this season, he has delivered five goals and four assists. While he enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, he later went through a difficult period marked by a goal drought, which also coincided with a dip in the team’s overall form.

In the meantime, former Amakhosi defender Gaxa believes Mahlambi should be the first signing for Chiefs ahead of next season.

“Get players, I mean the boy from TS Galaxy, Seluleko Mahlambi,” Gaxa said on the Apex International Podcast. “Get him, that is my first signing.”

“If I am Kaizer Junior or Bobby [Motaung], this is the conversation in the boardroom. They need to call Tim Sukazi. That boy knows how to play football. I have watched him. He works hard. He pushes when he is tired.

“You take him, and he becomes our focal point when we attack. Actually, he should build the attack. He is so talented. I have watched him. He is like a dancer when he is playing. He is an artist,” Gaxa continued.

“He can do something with both feet, right or left, you don’t know what he will do. I watch him and think this is proper talent. The most important thing about him is that he puts a lot of effort. With his talent, he still works very hard.

“He would fit in at Chiefs. With the players he will have around there. But the problem at Chiefs is that too many players are comfortable there,” Gaxa added.
