Beganovic weighs in: Did Dithejane and Ndamane’s exits hurt TS Galaxy?

TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has weighed in on whether the high-profile exits of Puso Dithejane and Khulumani Ndamane have left a void at the club.

Beganovic made his remarks following the Rockets’ 2-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium this past Sunday.

The club has hit a significant dip in form, going nine league matches without a victory. During this horror run, Galaxy suffered eight defeats and managed just a single draw.

As a result of these inconsistent performances, Galaxy currently finds itself in the bottom half of the log standings with 25 points from 24 outings. The Mpumalanga-based side sits 12th on the table and will be targeting an improved run in their remaining six games to secure a top-eight finish.

Beganovic addressed the team’s recent struggles, admitting his charges are feeling the void left by the departures of Puso Dithejane and Khulumani Ndamane during the January 2026 transfer window. Dithejane secured a high-profile move to Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer [MLS], while Ndamane signed a long-term contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Since the duo’s departure, the Tim Sukazi-owned outfit has struggled to find a winning rhythm. In the first half of the season, Dithejane made 14 appearances across all competitions, contributing four goals and four assists, while Ndamane—a highly-rated centre-back—featured 15 times in the same period.

“I think if we want to be honest and analyse everything that happened since January, we won only one game against Marumo Gallants, and after that we dropped down,” Beganovic said.

“Obviously, losing Puso and Khulumani shook us a bit, but that is not an excuse. If you want to be a professional-level player, you need to accept responsibility and show quality.

“We need to be honest; some of the players don’t have what we need to maintain what we had in the first round and last season. We need to analyse everything and make decisions. It’s very difficult to talk now because we still have many games in the league and the cup final ahead of us.”

Despite the unwanted form in the league, TS Galaxy have reached the final of the Nedbank Cup, where they’ll face Durban City FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on the 2nd of May.
